Shock claims in Turkey suggest Man United could re-sign Portugal winger Nani

MANCHESTER UNITED are close to re-signing Fenerbahce winger Nani, according to stunning claims in Turkey.

That is according to one of Turkey’s largest media outlets DHA, who claim United have already agreed personal terms with the Portugal international.

New Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is said to have sanctioned the move, but the Premier League club are yet to agree a transfer fee with Fenerbahce.

United are not prepared to meet Nani’s £6.2million release clause and are expected to meet with Fenerbahce officials in the coming days to thrash out a deal.

The Portugal international was sold to Fenerbahce last summer after being deemed surplus to requirements by former United manager Louis van Gaal.

The 29-year-old hit the ground running in Turkey, scoring 12 goals and assisting 13 last season in his debut campaign with the Super Lig giants.

Nani picked up 11 major honours during his eight years at Old Trafford, including four Premier League titles and a Champions League winners’ medal.

But he struggled for game time during Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge and fell out of favour under both David Moyes and Van Gaal.
